MY PHILSOPOHY

"I came to Laura after an extremely painful break-up.  Laura's counsel is direct and distinctly allows for therapy sessions to turn into actions and results. It is a huge difference and benefit to work with a therapist who guides one with a steady focus on self actualization and action. She does not judge, and guides with a compassionate, steady, action-oriented approach to working through life's challenges.”

I use a positive psychology approach that specializes in evidence-based types of "talk" therapy and mind-body medicine.  I also provide simple, effective stress relieving techniques that complement talk therapy for all my clients who are interested. I have been told that I am calm, compassionate, skilled, nonjudgmental and warm. I not only listen to your story but also teach you ways to experience your present differently and view your future with enthusiasm.

I am deeply committed to my ongoing development in clinical social work and participate in regular peer supervision and frequent ongoing continuing education. I have studied extensively with Peter Levine, founder of Somatic Experiencing.

I am passionate about social justice, and volunteer with the Connecticut Institute for Refugees and Immigrants (CIRI) in Bridgeport. I also believe that mental health services should be accessible to all who seek help, and therefore reserve several slots in my private practice schedule for clients in need of a sliding fee scale.

Helping individuals and families is my passion. I look forward to working with you.
